Start-up grant
The start-up grant is designed to help students reduce the financial burden of setting up a business in advance. Every year, the startup-uni of the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Applied Business Administration offers the opportunity to support 2 student start-up projects with up to €6,000 each. After receiving the scholarship, the teams are supported with a start-up programme over a period of 6 months (October - March). With the start-up scholarship, students can also earn up to 7 ECTS points.
In addition, the teams have the opportunity to receive the Start-up Grant Plus, which extends the programme by a further 3 months (April - June) and pays out a further €3,000. This means that a team can receive up to €9,000 in financial support.
In addition to financial and content-related support, the teams receive support in building a network as well as access to industry leaders and mentors. They also receive a co-working space in the Unicorn Start-up & Innovation Hub for up to 9 months, take part in workshops and benefit from individual coaching totalling €11,000. In this way, the start-up grant can help students to build up their own company and minimise the financial risk of the individual. In combination with the financial support of €9,000, the scholarship holders thus benefit from a total package worth around €21,000.
The start-up scholarship does not require any previous business knowledge and enables students from various disciplines to acquire entrepreneurial skills and realise their ideas.
The aim is to further develop the business idea within the 6 months.
During the fellowship, the participants will learn various skills in order to ultimately be able to start their own business. At the end of the fellowship, the team should have developed the business idea to such an extent that it is ready to acquire follow-up financing or generate its first sales.
The application phase for the Start-up Scholarship 2025 begins with the start of the summer semester and runs until 31 May 2025, when interested parties are invited to complete the application form and submit their CV. Selected teams will then be invited to an informal introductory meeting in June to discuss the next steps and opportunities.
