TEA
Transatlantic Entrepreneurship Academy (Graz - Montclair/NYC)
The Transatlantic Entrepreneurship Academy (TEA) is a top-class, international start-up boot camp offered by the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Applied Business Studies in cooperation with Montclair State University.
Every year, up to 20 students from the University of Graz are given the opportunity to take part in the TEA programme and gain international experience in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship together with up to 20 students from the USA. The boot camp is not aimed at any particular field of study and is therefore open to all students.
The programme includes two intensive workshop weeks in which the students devote themselves entirely to the project, with one week taking place in Montclair/NYC (USA) and one week in Graz. In addition, there are face-to-face and online units in which the workshop weeks are prepared and followed up. During the workshop weeks, international teams work on creative, innovative and sustainable start-up projects. From idea generation to the first prototypes and a final pitch, students receive intensive support with content from the fields of entrepreneurship, innovation management, prototype construction and pitch training.
In addition to exciting content, there is a varied supporting programme in both workshop weeks with company visits, getting to know the local start-up network, social activities/sightseeing and culinary delights.
Teaching programme:
The TEA programme is a formal course with the equivalent of five ECTS credits. The course begins on 12.11.2025 and ends on 13.05.2026. However, the majority of the time required is focussed on the two workshop weeks. During the remaining time, students are given work tasks to be completed independently or in teams. Students receive ECTS points after completing the two project weeks and completing the work tasks. The ECTS obtained can be used as free electives in all degree programmes at the University of Graz.
Places on the TEA programme are in high demand and are generously subsidised by the University of Graz. In the event of unjustified absences/drop-outs from the programme, the costs incurred by the University will be charged to the students on a pro rata basis. In the case of compulsory courses that overlap with TEA, please contact the course coordinator and, if the excuse is rejected, please send it to sebastian.ouschan@uni-graz.at
